Affiliate Disclosure: Who Pays Us and How

This handbook is free to read because two of the companies in it pay us: Goldco and Augusta Precious Metals. Here is who pays, for what, how our links work and what that changes.

Who pays us

CompanyPays us?When
GoldcoYesWhen a reader we refer requests information and Goldco counts it as a qualified lead, and when a referred reader buys
Augusta Precious MetalsYesWhen a reader we refer becomes a qualified lead under Augusta’s own definition
American Hartford GoldNoNo relationship
Birch Gold GroupNoNo relationship
Noble Gold InvestmentsNoNo relationship

We don’t publish the amounts. Our links charge you nothing themselves, and you can always go to a company’s site directly instead. We make no claim about whether a company’s prices or fees differ depending on how you arrive, because we have no document from either company that settles it; ask for your prices and fees in writing either way.

How our links work

Every button to Goldco or Augusta points to an address on this site that starts with /go/. That address sends you on to the company’s request page and adds labels that tell the company the visit came from this site, which page and which spot on the page you clicked, the topic of the page, which version of the page you saw, and how you first reached this site (for example, from a search engine). The labels contain nothing about you: no name, email, phone number or IP address.

Links to every other company and source on this site are ordinary links with no labels. Buttons to paid partners are marked “Paid partner” wherever they appear and carry rel="sponsored nofollow" so search engines know they are paid links.

What it changes

It changes which companies get a button and the order of those buttons: Goldco first, Augusta second. It also explains why those two get more attention in this handbook than companies that don’t pay us. The methodology sets out why Goldco’s published record supports putting it in front of readers with at least Goldco’s minimum but less than Augusta’s.

It doesn’t change the facts. Fees, minimums, complaint counts, settlements and regulator actions are reported the same way for every company, paid or not, and the weak points of both partners are on our pages.

What we don’t accept

  • Payment for favourable wording or for removing accurate information
  • Free metal, gifts or trips from companies we cover
  • Pre-publication review of our pages by any company

Why we tell you

The FTC’s Endorsement Guides say a payment relationship should be disclosed clearly, close to the recommendation. That’s why a one-line disclosure sits next to the first button on every page that has one, and why the footer links here. Questions go through the contact page.
