Editorial Policy
Retirement money is at stake, so this handbook runs on a few fixed rules: every figure has a dated source, paid partners are labelled where they appear, nobody writes under a made-up name, and mistakes are corrected in the open.
Who writes and checks
Jan Wirum edits the site and is accountable for the accuracy of every page. We don’t use personas, ghost bylines, stock photos of “experts” or invented credentials.
Sourcing
- Company facts (fees, minimums, kit names, promotions, ratings, complaints, legal records) come from one verified record per company. Each fact in it carries its source link, the date it was checked and a status such as verified, partial or conflicting.
- Rules about IRAs come from the IRS. Warnings about sales practices come from the CFTC, the SEC and its partner regulators, and the FTC.
- We don’t treat other review sites as a source of fact.
- When a company’s own pages disagree with each other or with its custodian, we show both and say which we rely on.
- When a company doesn’t publish something, we write that it isn’t published.
What we won’t publish
- Customer testimonials, composite “readers” or case studies we made up.
- Star ratings or scores of our own. We quote BBB, BCA and Trustpilot figures with dates, and that’s all.
- Forecasts of metal prices or claims about future returns.
- Urgency we don’t believe in: countdowns, “last chance”, invented deadlines.
- Political or religious framing, appeals to military service, or celebrity endorsements.
- Personal investment or tax advice. Where a decision has tax consequences, we tell you to talk to a tax professional.
Money and independence
Goldco and Augusta Precious Metals pay us, as set out in the affiliate disclosure. Every link to them is labelled as a paid partner link where it appears. They don’t see or approve pages before publication, and they can’t pay to remove an accurate fact. The FTC’s Endorsement Guides ask publishers to disclose material connections clearly and close to the claim; that’s why the disclosure line sits next to the first button on each page.
Dates
Each page shows when it was last updated and when its facts were checked. We change those dates only when the page or its facts actually change, and we never backdate.
Corrections
Send a correction through the contact page, with a source if you have one. If we got it wrong, we fix the page and note the correction and its date at the bottom of that page.
